Is there still any of you who has not heard about this ongoing trend in yoga? Anti-Gravity Yoga is introduced around 2012 and boomed ever since. I personally love this AGY because we get to do certain yoga movements with the help of the hammock (that's what you call the green piece of fabric) and to be able to perform one of my favourite special pose, the inversion or the upside down pose.
The best thing about the inversion movement of AGY (or may also found in Power Swing also) is that our spine can be stretched with the help of the earth's gravitational force, helping the tension in our spine to be eased. I experienced the spine-correcting moment myself when I had a bad muscle sprain near my buttocks and my tailbone as a result of sedentary lifestyle since I work in an office and I tended to sit most of the time. It was around 9 - 10 months I had this pain around that particular area and it was painful every time I sat and arose from the chair. Swimming, which is one of the exercise that is thought to help those who has muscle or joint sprains, could not help at all.

It was until a dear friend of mine invited me to try this new trendy exercise for fun and I did. I had a lot of fun trying new poses that were totally different from any other exercises (we got to be hung upside down, how fun is that?!). The modified yoga poses allowed me stretch better and further, helped me release the tensions on several parts of my major muscles. From then I took a couple of more Anti-Gravity Yoga, also Power Swing classes, and I realised that my pain near my buttock was gone. It incredibly gone for good! I am confident that the AGY & PS were the exercise that helped me get my spine and muscle turned normal again. I can now sit, stand, and walk with no pain thanks to the exercise.
The exercises are not only correcting our body posture but also strengthening our core and arm muscles. Those are just two of many reasons why I am in love with this exercise.
